Our Process

Creating a practical patio is what most outworkers would strive to accomplish. Prescott’s finest concrete team will push the echelon forward for your dream space. We take a wholistic approach to all of our work, which means there are many variables that are prone to change at a moments notice. We plan for all contingencies that could arise throughout the job which facilitates a smooth transaction. Here is a general guideline of what to expect with our patio pouring service. Keep in mind this process can change depending on the many variables that go into each project.
  1. Foundations and excavation. We begin by laying out the land with mason’s line and unearthing the sod. A layer of gravel is spread over the area that is designated for construction. A layout line is formed with stakes and the area is level accordingly.
  2. Layout lining and stakes. Driving stakes along the perimeter and corners of the layout lines, we space them every other two feet firmly in the ground. Proper sloping is accounted for and measured from the batterboards.
  3. Install form in its proper location. Wooden 2x4’s are nailed in pace along the stakes with nails and sledgehammer. The remaining stakes are placed and nailed in a similar fashion along the form board. The stakes are then cut to be horizontally flush with the top of the forms.
  4. Board meshing (sometimes is not needed). Where a side may be longer than one single board, we put two boards together and join them with plywood and nails. Next, we coat the boards with a non-stick agent to ensure the concrete does not form to the board.
  5. Mesh placement and installation. This step involves laying down the wire mesh atop wire supports spread throughout the installation area. The mesh is then wired to the supports and overlaid sections are tied together.
  6. Concrete is poured into project bowl. Here is the step where we take the concrete and place it within the confines of the borders. We use specific techniques to make sure there are minimal amounts of air pockets and then the flattening process begins.
  7. Surface flattening, floating, and separating. Using a variety of tools, we will begin leveling the form until water forms atop the surface of the fresh concrete. Next, we divide the concrete from the side boards by using a trowel to cut between the two. Then we add control joints which can prevent large cracks from occurring if the ground shifts beneath it.
  8. Finally, the surface is floated once again after the water has left the surface. Then the concrete will be left to cure with a sheet on top of the finished product.
